David Dawson was raised in Ancaster and Galt, Ontario. His earliest nurturing of art came from his dad; he and his brother would sit on either side of their father in his big arm chair, fascinated by his sketching of horses and cowboys. He started painting at the age of ten and when he ran out of canvases, he would whitewash the earlier painting and paint another scene, sometimes ending up with 3 layers of paintings on one canvas.
An honours graduate of the Ontario College of Art, David is one of North America's leading Architectural Renderers. His renderings have received international acclaim and he was commissioned to do nine renderings of the SkyDome.
He worked as a designer for Parking Architects in Toronto for five years. "I find tremendous satisfaction in the designing, but my desire to paint was greater and that led me to becoming an Architectural Renderer for the last number of years."
His background in architecture and design are evident in his paintings and his love of Muskoka provides the perfect imagery for expressing light and colour.
"My paintings allow me to share my love of the world with others."
